myFOXDetroit.com Staff - A benefit in Ferndale will help a local boy in desperate need of expensive medical treatments.

7-year old Kaden Strek of St. Clair Shores was born three months early. Family members say he died twice the day of his birth but fought to survive. At 2 1/2 pounds, they say his body was damaged and his prognosis thin.

Kaden is now legally blind and has trouble walking and speaking. He's in need of expensive therapy that's not covered by insurance.

Family members organized a fundraiser at Rosie O'Grady's in Ferndale on Sunday May 16th from 2pm to 6pm. They hope it will get Kaden to China for umbilical blood cord stem cell treatments.
